Learning AI
With the newest generation and tools, I don’t know where I really sit on the spectrum of technologically literate anymore. I always grew up as “the computer guy” that knew how to fix computers and type fast. For one reason or another, I spurned my childhood passion of computer engineering in college for a business and accounting degree so I was not able to keep up with my friends who coded for a living.
I tried to keep up and teach myself basic coding over the years and while I know probably most than the vast majority of the average folks, I’m far from being able to actually build anything nowadays.
Of course, AI changes that quite greatly and now technically anyone can build something. As the AI tools get better, I continue to leverage them more and more in my daily work. Usage breeds learning and I’m excited to continue to learn.
But I know I have a long ways to go to catch-up to other “AI pros”. I do know I don’t want to be left behind and have to ask my son how to do things for me in a few years. I need to keep up with the times and spend time to learn the new tools and technology. I’d like to remain a “computer guy” even as I grow older.
