Mexico City 2026
We’re flying back to New York tomorrow after a family trip to Mexico City. We met my sister here on Thursday and then my Dad, stepmom, and half-sister came on Saturday. I honestly don’t think we’ve ever taken a family vacation with all of us. My half-sister is 15 so she’s much younger and they did their own thing when they were younger.
Being on a family vacation isn’t the easiest thing in the world. The extra hands to help with Colin is nice, but my family isn’t one to do the heavy lifting or really much of any lifting for that matter. All that said, we’re all getting older and I need to remember that these moments are special and I’m going to wish we could do more of these down the road.
In yet another vacation with a kid, there has been a bit of FOMO especially as Mexico City is just an amazing place with lots of great bars and restaurants that are just not conducive for sitting down with a 20 month old. I’ve still had a great time though and it’s been fun exploring the city.
We’ve made a lot of memories with Colin and my family got to spend time with him. He’s no longer a baby and he’s a full on toddler with opinions. Mine and no are some of his favorite words now which makes things more difficult. But he’s also finally at the age where we can play together and it’s been incredibly fun as well.
I’ve always said a vacation feels proper when I’m ready to go home and I’m excited to get back to New York tomorrow. A few weekends at home after being gone the last 3 is what is needed.
