Networking

I met a fellow UW alumni at the gym today. He noticed my UW workout shirt and he was also wearing a UW shirt. Despite graduating 42 years apart, we bonded over our school and he invited me to the Dawgs on Wall Street event. It was really nice seeing UW alum in New York. There’s quite a few of us here, but despite being a large school, we do not have as big as representation compared to some of the other schools. A large part of that is that I’d imagine most of our alumni are on the west coast.

It was also a good reminder that I need to do a better job at networking and attending events. It’s something I’ve deprioritized especially over the last year and half given my busy personal life with a kid. But in general, I have done a horrible job going to events and conferences over the years. You just never know who you may meet or what you will learn, and I seldom regret attending these events.
